Think green in the home with Pantone’s 2017 Colour of the Year

Luxaflex® Window Fashions trend expert shares their interpretation of the PANTONE® Colour of the Year selection, ‘Greenery’, and how to incorporate this on-trend colour and vibe into the home.

“According to the Pantone Colour Institute, this year’s calming palette was influenced by a desire to reconnect with nature, one another and a larger purpose, amid a complex social and political landscape.

“Here we interpret the trend and give tips on how to incorporate it into your home for 2017 and beyond,” says Patricia Seoudi, Trend Expert, Luxaflex Window Fashions.

  1. 1. Going ‘Au Naturel’ - True to its form, greenery is naturally energising and provides a natural re-invention of your surroundings. Plants can help purify the air around you, making the space feel immediately refreshed. Try bringing some of the outdoors inside the home with a hanging garden. Motorised blinds is also an easy way to bring more greenery and light into the home. Get the vibe - check out the PowerView Pebble Remote in an invigorating ‘Citron’ colour which helps to control your shades in the palm of your hands with a convenient one-button operating system.

  1. 2. Spruce up interiors – If you are in a location where greenery is not in abundance, such as an apartment or townhouse, picking a pop of green to accent your interiors is a great way to add some zest into the home. With small spaces, the designer pro tip is to now adopt the use of not only texture, but different surface finishes to really balance the engagement of space. Greenery is the perfect complement in creating style savvy “co-living” spaces. Get the look – add an unexpected texture to your windows with the Luxaflex® Pirouette Shade in Satin Metallic Fabric, Colour: Glacier

  1. 3. Think green, save energy – Starting to think green and embracing energy efficiency in the home is the first step for creating a better environment for us and our future. One of the most energy efficient shades available is the Luxaflex Duette® Architella which features a patented honeycomb-within-a-honeycomb construction for superior insulation. Homeowners can reduce their heating costs by up to 43%^ with Duette Architella. Get the vibe – Luxaflex Duette Architella along with its honeycomb-within-a-honeycomb structure is pictured above.

  1. 4. Add an injection of personality – Don’t be afraid to take a trend and make it your own. Think about the key element and how other things could potentially meld with this. For example, greenery easily lends itself to the beautiful world of botanics. Get the look – create a stunning backdrop in your living room with Aria Botanics, part of the Luxaflex Designer Series fabric collection. It uses the extravagance of metallic printing to bring the botanic print to life in a highly sophisticated way that guarantees a second glance.

^Savings are based on the installation of fully-recessed, reveal-mounted DUETTE® Architella Opaque Shades in an average home in Sydney, compared with the House Energy Rating standard of Holland Blinds from AccuRate, in that home. These calculations have been modelled by an independent third party. Savings will vary based on the window type and installation.
